Popcord The Phone Cable you Wish you Had - Promo code inside!

POPCORD-logoLooking for that next gadget to help you throughout the day? I'm always on the lookout for interesting and stylish products that also serve a purpose without it being too gimmicky. That's where Popcord comes in. A brand new product from Powergoat but what is Popcord exactly? popcord image

On paper Popcord is a phone charger cable, simple as that. On the other hand it's a unique, stylish and very practical. At home or while in work we are always rooting around for phone chargers and they either get misplaced or as we know it, someone else uses it.

What I like about the Popcord is it's convenient, just attach the product to you keyring or bag then simple unclip the cable from the end and you've got a full functional phone cable. You can pick between a Lightning Port (iPhone 5 or above) or an Micro-USB version, along with a whole bunch of different colours.

Amiibo Collections

It's no secret that toy based gaming is big business at the moment. Back in October 2011 Activision released Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. As well as owning the game, consumers also got a Portal and 3 small figures, which when placed on the portal allowed gamers to play as that particular critter in game. The game was a method of getting former platform hero Spyro back on the scene too, but it soon became apparent that the gaming market had space for toy-based peripherals. spyro_lila

Nearly 4 years on and you can now buy around 317 Skylanders (including a number of limited editions and such) with the latest game, Super Chargers, bringing vehicle based gaming to the series.

Disney have entered the scene with a number of Disney, Marvel and (as of end of the month) Star Wars characters. Where Skylanders are more about platforming/mission based gamplay, Disney have tried to encourage a more imaginative approach, encouraging gamers to use their own inspiration to create levels and mini-games.

Did I mention LEGO are getting involved too with LEGO Dimensions? We'll cover that incoming title in more detail in a future post.

highres_lego_dimensions

The reason for this post though was to talk about another line of toy based gaming, one of which, on face value, doesn't really have as much value in each figure. So why on earth do I keep getting tempted to buy more?!

I am, of course, talking about Nintendo's Amiibos. Where as until now the figures you buy usually unlock that specific character for use in a particular game, Amiibos are usable in multiple games but only for relatively minor content, for example additional costumes. They are though very detailed figures, more so than Skylanders/Disney Infinity figures in my personal opinion. More importantly though, is the power of Nintendo.

Nintendo have had to rely on first-party characters for years to keep gamers buying their hardware due to lack of 3rd party support, which is fine because no company has a back catalogue of popular characters than Nintendo. I planned pre-release to only pick up a couple, but as you are just about to see I've got a few more than a 'couple':

IMG_0529

What is really frustrating, in the manner of which Nintendo have mastered, a number of particular Amiibos have been quite difficult to get hold of which has in turn helped drive some of my purchases. But you know what, I just can't stop picking them up!

Our very own Mike also has built up a collection, as you can see below:

IMG_3829

So what I'd like to see, are your collections of Amiibos. Do you keep them boxed? Why have you bought into them? Who is your favorite?

Send us your images via Twitter (@BlastProcess), post the pictures on Facebook.com/BlastProcess or email them to contact@blastprocess.com and we'll post them in a future post.

Can't wait to see your collections!

Tom's UK Game Room 2015 Update!

screen-shot-2015-07-23-at-13-50-02.png

Screen Shot 2015-07-23 at 14.24.52 Hey Blast Processors, Tom here again!

So I jumped on a plane and vacated my Danish Game Room for my British one!

As promised an update from the 'UK' Game Room. You'll find it's jam packed with more fun and games than ever before, not to mention littered with Lemmings and Worms games for some reason...

There's a few more consoles that have come out of hiding now, and other new editions like a Mega CD and CD-i.

I tried to keep it brief but upon editing realised it was nearing the 30 min mark...Oops. Regardless I hope you enjoy. If you have any questions about what you've seen in the collection, just leave a comment.

NOTE: After filming this I received confirmation that the 'Blinking Light Win' that I mentioned in the video has just been shipped!

Tom's 'Danish Game Room' Tour

gameroomdanish_final.jpg

danishgameroom_face Hey Blast Processors, Tom here!

For those not in the know, I live and work in Denmark. I don't have a Game Room in Denmark, but I do have a Living Room/Lounge area where I have a small collection of games and consoles and I thought it was about time I shared it with you all. I used to share this space with fellow Processor Mathew Boyle but he flown the coop so to speak so it's just little old me now and a distinct lack of RPGs.

A lot's changed at the Tom and Mat Shack since and seeing as we didn't do a Game Room Video like we planned, I did a short one to show what it presently looks like here at the shack. So here's my 'Danish' Game Room, enjoy!

Rest in Peace, Iwata-San

img_2487.jpg

It was announced this morning via a statement from Nintendo that sadly on Saturday, Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata, had passed away. He has been suffering from bile duct growth, causing him to miss E3 in 2014. Nintendo stated he missed this years due to other work commitments.

Once a game developer himself with Nintendo, Iwata was a hugely influential figure within today's gaming community thanks to his fun loving persona and his driving passion for high quality playable games to be at the forefront of Nintendo's consoles. He fronted a large number of the Nintendo Direct videos, speaking directly to us gamers, about what they were working on next.

His inescapable passion for gaming made him more than a company president in a suit.

RIP Satoru Iwata from all of us here at BlastProcess.com.

Even more surprisingly, Mat’s bought some Gameboy Games! Hazaa! Tom + Mat Attack 102 – ShenMulan

05_07_15.jpg

tma It’s been a slow week in TMA Town! Mat’s completed Shenmue, beat some Duck Tales and even done a little bit of Wooly World with Young Thomas, who has mostly been spending his time buying expensive copies of Worms and reminiscing over his love of fighting games and how said love could perhaps be coming to an end…?

Listen here.

Tom + Mat Attack 101 – Finally Got Megaman!

28_06_2015.jpg

tma This week the boys are back to their regular shinnanigans. Tom’s picked up some more Worms, Mat bought some Gameboy games, and they’re both talking nonsense! Tom’s been knee deep in some Monopoly on PS3, as well as some Towerfall Accession & Surgeon Simulator on the PS4. Mat has purely been playing Shenmue and as a result, is about to loose some street cred with the Dreamcast Crowd…

Tom + Mat Attack 100 – E3 Centennial Spectacular

tma

Wowzers Trousers,  100 Episodes of TMA! What better way to kick off over an audio century by looking forward to the years 2016 and 17, we have looked into the Crystal ball of E3 and found many a tasty morsel of gaming delights that both excited and titivated our gaming desires, but also some that made us feel isolated and slightly confused with it all… Here’s to 100 more & thanks for your support!

tma You havin’ Worms problems, I feel bad for you son. ‘Cause Tom’s got 99 versions, but Worms 2 ain’t one. -cough- Sorry, had to get that little ditty out the way! On this week’s TMA, Mat is debating buying an expensive arcade machine, confirming most Gameboy Color games are nonsense and getting surprisingly hooked on Puzzle & Dragons. Tom’s moved on from Lemmings to Worms, but still managed to fit in some Mortal Kombat, and even a few racing titles!

MEGA MAY! Gameboyle Reviews

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 4.43.31 PM It's been an exciting month of reviews over at Gameboyle. For those not familiar with the YouTube Channel it's the work of our very own Mathew Boyle, yes he of Blast Process's Tom and Mat Attack podcast.

Every week Mat reviews a game from the Game Boy's massive back catalog as he continues towards his goal of owning every game in the console's library. Rather him than me!

Check out the videos below to see what Mat's been up to this month, a rather lovely overview of all the core Mega Man titles released for the original Game Boy. Enjoy!

Mega Man: Dr Wiley's Revenge:

It's a portable Megaman! Yes, all the joy of Capcom's Blue Bomber on the Gameboy. Does this game measure up to it's NES forerunners? Is it balls to the walls hard? What's the boss order? All will be revealed...

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLHW_8t1W7I[/embed]

Mega Man 2:

Mega Man II seems to be universally regarded as the worst of the Mega Man titles on the Nintendo Gameboy. A sentiment even shared by Mega Man's creator, Keiji Inafune. Is it really as bad as the internet would have you believe?

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06vQW1dhEkU[/embed]

Mega Man 3:

Leaping into Mega May comes Mega Man III! With the reins of the Blue Bomber's handheld campaign back in the hands of Minakuchi Engineering, Mega Man III cranks the difficulty back the to legendary status of it's NES counter parts. However, is this a fun experience on the Game Boy?

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw2UBws20ow[/embed]

Mega Man 4:

Rocking on with Mega May has brought us to Mega Man VI! Minakuchi Engineering's hotly contested entry for best Mega Man game in the entire run on the Nintendo Gameboy. Is it all Rock-Man-Roll? Or a complete Mega Bust?

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbSUVIYK0nM[/embed]

Mega Man 5:

We wrap up Mega May with the last in the Game Boy series, Mega Man V! Minakuchi Engineering's last handheld entry into the series, but perhaps also their best. With new characters, ideas and the classic gameplay formula, how could it not be?

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0rg4p6XWYA[/embed]

Tom + Mat Attack 098 – Welsh Pirates

24_05_2015.jpg

tma On this week’s TMA,  Tom’s been knee deep in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag! He can confirm that the 2014 Game of the Year for many is worth the hype! Mat’s been knee deep into Gameboy games like Amida, Ghost Busters and various Japanese titles, not to mention being subjected to terrible 90′s SEGA raps… Stay tuned until the very end for a treat ;)

Listen here.

Tom + Mat Attack 097 – Gaming Delights

17_05_15.jpg

tma On this week’s TMA, surprise surprise, Tom’s been playing Lemmings! After he played that, he played some of Team 17′s spiritual successor, Flockers! Then had the gaul to tell Mat that the PSP was the greatest hand held of all time! Mat on the other hand, has been playing some Mega Man III on Gameboy, some Blacklight: Retribution on PS4 and a little bit of Beauty & The Beast, a board game adventure…

Listen here.

Tom + Mat Attack 096 – Too Many Lemmings

10-05-15.jpg

tma A day later than usual, we join the boys after the bank holiday all fired up on gaming. Tom has, in a surprise move, been hoarding Lemmings games, playing Black Flag and even a little bit of Worms. Mat by contrast, has been trying to work his way through his Playstation Plus back log, starting with Valiant Hearts – The Great War, some Axiom Verge and a little bit of Megaman II.
