The Rambleast Rewind: The Box Of Gaming Past

Yes! Finished just before midnight!!! Happy Thirdiversary to Blast Process, this most wonderful of hosts! I felt the occasion deserved commemoration somehow and seeing as I can’t yet devote the time I want to my long-gestating 2nd Never-Played Must-Played article (trust me Blastees, it’s coming, it’s coming…) and I couldn’t think of anything else to write about, I opted to head into the attic for inspiration and to my modest Box Of Gaming Past to see what inspiration might strike me. After all, are we not all, at heart, nostalgists with tucked-away relics from our formative years gathering dust amongst the report cards and cobwebs? No?

Just me, then?

Anyway, it’s been a while since I delved into that tub of wonders, so let’s crack on and see what I found, eh? I’m sure you know, but clicking the first image’ll make launch the gallery, then you can navigate left and right from there:

Sure it’s stretching it a little, but I think my unwillingness to throw away some underwear, a completely auxiliary second Mega Drive and games for consoles I don’t own says a lot about the gamers’ mentality: we develop profound connections to these machines and their artifacts, which in turn contribute to profound connections we make with like-minded people. Sure, it’s a little weird, but it’s human and heartfelt, and these things still mean something to me in a world of work, education and… y’know, real things.

Never let go, is all I’m saying. Hold onto those pants forever!

For more thoughts and games and ALL the other things, check out Rambleast at your leisure, and be sure to return to this very site where I’ll have more to upload in the near future.

  1. Nice box of nostalgia, wish I had things to put in one :-/ how much for RE:revelations? :) keep up the good work :)

    • If you leave me your address here Rich I’ll get it posted to you next week, no charge. Obviously the address won’t be posted for the whole Internet to see, I’ll make sure of that. Just need to clarify that those Revelations boxes don’t have the game, just a sort of holographic cover and a big poster. Still interested?
